Approaching the Ballot

We have come to a time when the fate/future of our Dear nation Nigeria will be decided by us. I have heard so many people talked about the forth coming election and how they want to vote. It pains my heart that many of us wants to vote with ignorance and because of certain things like money, name, party, etc. In this article, I will be showing you the biblical pattern for voting rightly.

No fewer than 30 presidential candidates for the 2019 general elections have emerged. The question is who is the right man for this job? Different Pastors have been prophesying the right man but do you think they are right? Personally God hasn’t told me anything about the right man but he gave me direction to vote which am about to share. Irrespective of your tribe, religion, ethnicity and culture, apply these directions and vote wisely. These directions are extracted from the Bible.

1 Timothy 2:1-2

“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quite life, godly and dignified in every way.

The No. 1 thing you must do before and during approaching the ballot is PRAY!. 1 Tim 2:1-2 indicates we must pray, not just pray only, supplicate and intercede with groaning and thanksgiving. Approaching the ballot without praying is dangerous because little money can buy your vote, but when you pray, the Spirit of God will lead and guide you to voting the right person. Party is never enough for voting the right person. That’s why Nigeria will remain the way she is … (God Forbid) because we voted for party. 

No God wasn’t saying pray for the party, He said for all kings and all who are in high positions. Voting for the right man is not voting the party. A container may look beautiful but check the content, how good is the content? Yes that’s how some famous parties are in Nigeria. Famous, wealthy, influential but the people in there are dirty and stinky. If we want the right man to emerge, we must pray the right man in and vote the right man.

 Israel was in need of a good leader. In 1 Samuel 16, the family of Jesse had several able men who can become a king. After Samuel cried out to God for the right man, God told him to pick David, the one who doesn’t look like a king. So you see if Samuel hasn’t prayed to God for choosing the right leader, he could have anointed a wrong , thereby, making Israel suffer. When you pray, God reveals to you the right man to vote. Prayer is the one thing that makes you know the right man to vote.

Titus 13:1-11

“Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people. For us ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another. But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit”.

The other virtue you must check out when approaching the ballot is “CHARACTER”. Titus: 1-11 clearly shows us the God’s kind of man for Nigeria. A man of good works, submissive, ready to work and willingly to learn from others, speak evil of no one, avoid quarreling, gentleness and show perfect courtesy toward his people. If you are able to be convinced a candidate has these traits, BOLDLY VOTE! A man of bad character should never be voted for because he never takes responsibility of anything. Our dear country Nigeria is too big to be led by a nonentity who only cares about himself and his political ambition. 

I wouldn’t want to mention names of the popular politicians contesting for the presidential election but I can boldly say if our vote resolves round these political contestants, then, Nigeria has a long way to go. So many fights, killings, arguments, exchange of words and all sort of irresponsible act has been going on between political parties and i can boldly say if the winner emerges from any of these parties that is causing trouble, Nigerians will pay for it. Therefore, Vote Wisely!

All the kings’ chosen by God in Israel led well by the help of God and good character. So you see, you cannot omit a man of the How to Stay Connected to Heaven and good character in a leader. This virtue is very important in choosing a president.

Proverbs 14:34

“Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people”.

Nigeria as a nation is in big mess (reproach) because we have taken away the Righteousness of God. Who can actually bring back Nigeria is a man that understands God's Kingdom Agenda and that’s the main reason why you should vote seeking God first for the right person. A man with the righteousness of God can deliver a good job why because he understands God and God actually can do what no man can in his life and in Nigeria using him.

Lastly, Exodus 18:21

“Moreover; look for able men from all the people, men who fear God, who are trustworthy and hate a bribe, and place such men over the people as chiefs of thousands, of hundreds, of tithes, and of tens.

When the bible talks about able men, he isn't referring to wealthy, influential and strong men but men of valor, men of integrity, men of trust, men that hate bribe and men that fears God. This man is the man we need in Nigeria. If any man bribes you for a position, please don’t vote why because he is only using the little token to ruin your life down. Say No to bribe when approaching the ballot. Receiving bribe is actually selling your right as a Nigerian because when things go wrong in the country, you can’t alter a word.

Any leader you must vote for must have the fear of the Lord. This is so important. A man who has the fear of the Lord will never take bribe, loot, cause confusion, even if he does not achieve all what he promised, he will fulfill not less than 85% which is a pass mark.

Approaching the ballot this season, I hope I have been able to give you comprehensive rightful directions in voting for the right person.
